There is no degree readout; you read the temperature from the pointer and the click. Anyone vaporizing for the first time and expecting numbers on a display is better served by an electric device.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eBall head as a heat store\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe cap holds about 40 quartz balls with a diameter of 3 mm. They absorb the heat and release it to the air flowing through, so the material is heated predominantly by convection. The balls can be swapped: the manufacturer lists ruby, zirconia, silicon carbide and stainless steel as well as a two-piece heating core as alternatives. Heavier fills store the heat for longer and heat up more steadily, lighter ones react faster. We stock the Mad Heaters ruby balls as an accessory.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eTorch or induction\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith the torch lighter, the cap is heated from a distance of about 1 cm while turning it slowly; the manufacturer recommends a double or triple flame or a medium single flame. The first click usually comes at the lower end of the suitable temperature range. An induction heater is more reproducible: on the YLL 3.0 at 80 W, the stainless steel cap with quartz balls needs about 39–43 seconds, and a cap that is still warm needs 8–12 seconds less. With the iSpire Wand, the opening must be at least 14.0 mm wide. If the customer does not have a heat source yet, it belongs in the same order.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eFill level, airflow and cooling\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith the tube supplied, the chamber screen is set to one of four levels: approx. 0.05 g, 0.1 g, 0.15 g or 0.2 g. The smallest level is new on the Slim. The air can be regulated in two places: at the cap via the induction sleeve and at the body via a small ring under the heat shield. The cooling unit in the body is replaceable; the medium length is supplied, and the manufacturer offers a shorter and a longer one separately.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eTempest 2 Slim and Tempest 2\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCap and heating system are the same on both models; the manufacturer's spare cap and spare chamber fit both. The Slim has a narrower body with a heat shield made of PPS plastic instead of aluminium or titanium, and an additional fill level of 0.05 g. The mouthpiece, heat shield and wooden sleeve of the Tempest 2, however, do not fit the Slim. With us, the Tempest 2 Slim replaces the discontinued Tempest 2.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eCleaning and care\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBefore first use, all parts are cleaned thoroughly. For the basic clean, the manufacturer says to place the device in isopropyl alcohol, then rinse it with warm water and dry it completely. In between, it is enough to clean the cooling coil and body with isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs. After every wet clean, heat the cap once while empty so that the residual moisture evaporates.
