Description

The Flowermate Aura from Smiss is a compact pen vaporiser with an OLED display: temperature and battery level are shown precisely, and control is by buttons between 40 and 230 degrees. The electronics are separated from the vapour channel, which keeps the vapour clean. The 2600 mAh battery is good for sessions of up to two hours. Refillable stainless steel capsules are included. For the trade it is the article with the best ratio of equipment to price.

Who is the Aura for?

For customers who want a display and a wide temperature range without reaching into the top class. The Aura handles all four materials and shows exactly what is set. In the trade it is the article for people who want a device with numbers for the first time — and for anyone looking for a second device for the road.

40 to 230 degrees

The range is unusually wide for a device in this class. Downwards it reaches into a band where hardly any visible vapour forms, upwards to full extraction and into the range concentrates need. Most users work between 180 and 205 degrees; the span is still an argument against devices with fixed levels.

The separated vapour channel

Smiss separates the electronics from the vapour channel, so the drawn air does not pass the circuit board and battery. That keeps the flavour clean and is by no means the rule on cheap pen vaporisers. For the trade it is a technical argument that can be explained in one sentence and lifts the Aura above the cheap competition.

Four materials, two capsules

The Aura vaporises herbs, oils, concentrates and waxes. Two capsules are included for that: one for herbs with fine air holes and one for waxes with organic cotton. The capsules are stainless steel and refillable, so several can be prepared for the road. That is the device's real trick.

Prepared capsules

Because the capsules are refillable, several can be filled at home and swapped on the road. Anyone regularly vaporizing out and about saves the fiddling with loose material. Spare capsules are available individually and belong on the shelf — they are the most obvious add-on sale for this device.

The battery

2600 milliampere hours allow sessions of up to two hours. Charging is over a standard USB cable, which is practical on a device in this price bracket because one can always be found. The battery is built in; heavy users should carry a power bank.

The OLED

It shows temperature and battery level, both precisely. On a pen vaporiser an OLED is not a matter of course, and it is the reason the Aura sells to customers coming from devices with three LED levels. It is readable in daylight too.

Cleaning

The ceramic chamber and the capsules are cleaned with isopropyl alcohol; because the capsules are stainless steel, the material tolerates thorough treatment. The insulated air path makes sure the dirt collects where you can reach it. Anyone cleaning every few weeks keeps draw resistance and flavour constant.

Origin and spare parts

Manufacture is in China, which is the rule in this price bracket. Spare parts — above all capsules and screens — run through the manufacturer. For the trade that means an orderly supply as long as the range is carried; the capsules should therefore be on the shelf when the device is sold.

What the Aura is not

It is not a convection device. The flavour of a TinyMight or a Legacy is not to be had here — but then the Aura costs a fraction and offers a display many more expensive devices do not have. That placement belongs honestly in the conversation so the expectation is right.

How to use it

  1. Fill the capsule with herbs or wax and insert it.
  2. Switch the device on and select the temperature with the buttons.
  3. Let it heat for around 30 seconds.
  4. Draw slowly and evenly.
  5. After the session clean the capsule and the chamber.
