Who is the Tempest 2 for?

For customers who already know what convection means and want a device without a battery. The Tempest 2 has no electronics, no levels and no display — the temperature comes out of the flame, the distance and your own draw. In the trade it is the article for people coming from the DynaVap who want more control. Anyone vaporising for the first time is better served by an electric device.

Pure convection

The air is heated and gives its warmth to the material; the chamber wall stays cooler than with conduction. The result is a clean flavour and material that does not scorch but vaporises evenly. The price is that the technique wants practice: draw too fast and you get too little out, draw too slowly and you overheat. After two or three sessions the draw settles.

The replaceable heating core

Inside the core is a ball fill that stores the heat and gives it evenly to the air passing through. The core is replaceable — that is the point which separates the Tempest 2 from devices with a built-in heater. When the core fades after years, it gets swapped instead of the device. For the trade that is a spare part that sells for years.

Torch or induction

Heating is done with a torch lighter or with an induction heater such as the iSpire Wand. The flame is cheaper and available everywhere, the induction is more reproducible because it always delivers the same energy. Anyone selling the Tempest 2 should ask what the customer already owns — and if the answer is nothing, the heater belongs in the same order.

Modular build

Airflow and cooling can be adjusted through the modules: a longer cooling stretch for milder vapour, a shorter path for more density. That is not an accessory idea but the actual point of the device — it is set to the user and not the other way round. The Tempest 2 knows no session that runs and consumes material as it goes. Heating happens for each draw individually, and afterwards the device cools down again. Titanium and stainless steel

The materials are built for continuous use and tolerate the temperature changes that arise with every heating. Cleaning and maintenance

The device comes apart into its pieces without tools. Cleaning is done with isopropyl alcohol and a brush, and the chamber screen is soaked. O-rings are the wear part and are included as spares; resupply belongs on the shelf, because they go porous eventually. Anyone cleaning every few weeks has a device that works the same for years.

We stock the Tempest 2 in black and in Racing Green. Technically both are identical. For the trade it pays to carry both, because with a device you pick up and show around, looks have a say.

How to use it

1. Open the chamber and fill it loosely with ground material.
2. Fit the cooling unit and the heating cap.
3. Heat the cap with a torch or an induction heater.
4. Draw slowly and evenly while the heat does its work.
5. After the session take it apart and clean the pieces.
