Who is the VENTY for?
For customers looking for a portable device without compromise and willing to accept the size and price for it. At 252 grams and just under sixteen centimetres long the VENTY is no pocket device but the mobile flagship of a company that has built medical technology for decades and whose Volcano is approved as a medical device in many countries. In retail it is the device for the customer who has already owned two or three vaporisers, knows their weaknesses and now wants to stop searching. Anyone wanting something smaller reaches for the Crafty+; anyone after the proven classic, the MIGHTY+.
Twenty seconds — and why that counts in daily use
Storz & Bickel has cut the heat-up time to a third of the MIGHTY+: around twenty instead of sixty seconds to the set temperature. That sounds like a number on a spec sheet but it changes how the device is used. Sixty seconds mean you switch the vaporiser on and do something else; twenty seconds mean you pick it up and wait. A redesigned heater block combined with the higher airflow makes it possible — the VENTY pulls more air through less material and therefore needs less run-up.
Adjustable airflow up to twenty litres per minute
Draw resistance can be set steplessly on the device, up to twenty litres per minute. Draw loosely and long and you open the airpath for cooler, milder vapour, because the air moves through the chamber faster and has less time to heat up. Draw short and hard and you throttle it for denser vapour at the same temperature. For advice across the counter that is a strong argument, because it solves exactly the complaint customers raise most often about portable vaporisers: a draw so tight you have to suck against it.
Hybrid heating of convection and conduction
Storz & Bickel combines both heating methods in a patented process. The chamber wall supplies base heat and keeps the load at temperature even between two draws; the hot air passing through carries the rest and ensures the extraction runs evenly across the whole filling. That is why the VENTY delivers vapour immediately even at low settings and does not fall off over the course of a session. The range runs from 40 °C to 210 °C and is set to the degree — further down than most competitors.
Ceramic-coated chamber and dosing capsules
The chamber holds around 0.25 grams and is ceramic-coated. The coating keeps the flavour neutral and makes wiping out easier, because resin does not stick as it does on bare metal. It takes the Storz & Bickel dosing capsules: small metal capsules in which a load is prepared and carried closed. Anyone wanting to refill on the move prepares three or four capsules at home and changes them in the device without loose material in a pocket. For retailers the capsule is the obvious add-on sale with the device.
Battery, Supercharge and running on the cable
Two built-in 18650 cells deliver around twelve sessions per charge, which is enough for a normal trading day. Over USB-C with Power Delivery the battery is back to eighty per cent in forty minutes — Storz & Bickel calls that Supercharge, and it is the point where the VENTY separates itself most clearly from the old MIGHTY with its barrel connector. Because pass-through is supported, the device can be used on the cable. For a demo unit on the shop counter that is the decisive point, because it may stay plugged in all day.
Display, operation and presets
Operation runs over a few buttons and a backlit display that shows target and actual temperature at once. There is no menu tree and no obligation to use an app — the VENTY can be controlled by Bluetooth through a web app with stored temperature profiles, but it does not have to be. For the sale that is an advantage over devices that only do half without a smartphone: the customer takes it home, switches it on and manages without instructions. The last temperature chosen stays saved.
Cooling unit and cleaning
The cooling unit sits between chamber and mouthpiece and lowers the vapour temperature on its way to the lip. It can be fully dismantled and soaked in isopropyl alcohol; the chamber is swept out with the supplied brush. Because the chamber is coated, less residue builds up than on bare metal, and the draw resistance stays constant for weeks. A resin-clogged airpath is the most common cause of complaints that are not device faults — regular cleaning spares retailers those cases.
Build, origin and spare parts
Storz & Bickel manufactures in Tuttlingen and comes out of medical technology; you notice it in the tolerances. Nothing rattles, nothing sits loose, and the plastics do not smell even when hot. More important than any figure on a spec sheet, though, is the spare-part supply for wholesale: cooling units, screens, seals and mouthpieces are available separately, and for years after purchase. A device that can still be repaired after four years is a different product in resale from one you then throw away.
VENTY, MIGHTY+ or Crafty+?
At around 135 grams the Crafty+ is the most compact of the three and is controlled more finely through the app, but has the shortest runtime. The MIGHTY+ is the proven classic: the same hybrid heating, 3300 mAh battery, sixty seconds heat-up and the best ratio of performance to price — the device that crosses the counter most often. The VENTY adds the twenty seconds, the adjustable airflow and the larger battery pack on top. In return it is the most expensive and the largest of the three.
How to use it
- Fill the chamber loosely with ground herbs or insert a prepared dosing capsule.
- Switch the device on and select the temperature to the degree on the display.
- Let it heat for around twenty seconds until the display reports the target temperature.
- Set the airflow control to the draw resistance you want and draw slowly and evenly.
- After the session empty the chamber and dismantle and clean the cooling unit.
