Basic
Suitable only for herbs
The Basic is the cheapest vaporiser in the range and deliberately pared down to the essentials: two buttons, a side LED indicator, a hybrid heating system with a strong convection element and a stainless steel chamber. What is missing is the display; what remains is a device that is ready in thirty seconds and fits in any trouser pocket. For the trade it is the article that makes entry into the brand cost the least — a low hurdle at the first purchase and a customer who comes back later for a larger device.

- Heat-up time of about thirty seconds for spontaneous sessions, with no waiting and no preparation
- Stainless steel chamber holding around 0.2 g, easy to fill, easy to clean and without a taste of its own
- Operated with two buttons and a side LED indicator, without menus — there is practically nothing here to set wrong
- Haptic feedback shows readiness without your having to look at the device

Who is the Basic for?
For customers who want to try it out first, and for everyone looking for a second device for the move that they need not worry about. The Basic has exactly the functions you need and does without everything else. In the trade it is the price entry into the brand and the article with which a hesitating customer can be won over. Anyone who starts with it comes back for a larger device in our experience. Anyone who only asks about the price in the shop gets the Basic; anyone who asks about equipment will end up at the Balu.
Hybrid with a convection element
The Basic warms the chamber and at the same time draws hot air through the material — a middle way that is ready faster than pure convection and works more cleanly than pure conduction. In this price class it is the most sensible design, because it balances speed and flavour. The difference from a pure conduction device is audible on the second draw, when the vapour does not fall off. For the trade it is an argument that can be made in one sentence: faster than convection, cleaner than conduction.
Temperature
180 to 220 degrees covers the range worked in practice — Smono deliberately does without the extremes below and above. For beginners that is more of an advantage, because the span allows no wrong settings. Most customers end up at around 200 degrees and stay there. It is set steplessly with the two buttons. Anyone wanting more room later finds it on the Balu, which reaches from 100 to 240 degrees.
Two buttons and an LED
Operation runs through two buttons, and the state is reported by a side LED indicator together with a vibration signal. There is no display, and precisely that keeps the price low. In practice you miss it less than you would think: the temperature is set once and stays, and readiness is signalled by the vibration. Anyone needing an exact degree readout should reach straight for the Balu instead of getting annoyed with the Basic.
Stainless steel chamber
Around 0.2 grams fits inside, which is enough for a session alone. Stainless steel takes on no taste of its own, tolerates any cleaning and stays the same over years. Filling is done with the tamping tool supplied or with a dosing capsule, which is also in the carton. Brush it out while still warm, then it is easiest. For a round of two the fill is not enough — that belongs in the sales conversation, otherwise the disappointment comes later.
The glass mouthpiece
The extendable glass mouthpiece lengthens the path of the vapour and thereby cools it noticeably. Pushed in, the device stays pocketable. Glass is flavour-neutral and can be cleaned without special care. Replacements are available individually and belong on the shelf, because glass breaks eventually — a second mouthpiece saves the customer the week without their device.
Battery and charging
The 1500 mAh battery is enough for several sessions and charges over USB-C. For a device this size that is an appropriate capacity; anyone using it daily charges about every other day. No mains adapter is included, which is usual in this price class and in practice bothers nobody. Anyone travelling a lot carries a power bank, because the battery cannot be swapped.
The dosing capsule
A dosing capsule is included with which the material can be pre-portioned. That keeps the chamber clean and turns a change on the move into a matter of seconds. For the trade capsules are a good add-on sale, because customers who have worked with them once want to prepare several. In our experience it rarely stays with the single capsule from the carton.
Cleaning and wear
A brush, cotton buds, replacement O-rings and screens are included; everything else is available individually. The construction is simple enough for the device to be taken apart and cleaned in a few movements. Neglected devices come back as supposed defects when in fact only the air path is clogged. Clean every few weeks and draw resistance and flavour stay constant over the whole service life.
Basic or Balu?
The Basic is cheaper, simpler and intended for the pure entry point. The Balu offers an OLED display, a swappable battery, an airflow adjuster and the wider temperature span from 100 to 240 degrees. Anyone only wanting to get started takes the Basic; anyone who knows they will stick with it reaches for the Balu straight away and saves the second purchase. Only a few euros separate the two, which is why pointing to the Balu pays off in almost every conversation.
How to use it
- Fill the chamber with finely ground material or insert a dosing capsule.
- Fit the glass mouthpiece and extend it.
- Switch the device on with the two buttons and select the temperature.
- Let it heat for around thirty seconds until the vibration signals.
- Draw slowly and brush the chamber out after the session while still warm.
