The Arizer Solo III succeeds the Solo line and works as a hybrid with around eighty per cent convection: the herbs sit in a glass stem and the hot air passes through them rather than heating them against a metal wall. It handles session and on-demand operation, is ready in around fifteen seconds and guides the vapour through borosilicate glass the whole way.

Who is the Solo III for?

For customers who put flavour and vapour quality above compactness. The Solo III is emphatically not a pocket device: at 118 mm long, 40 mm across and 280 grams it sits noticeably heavy in the hand and wants a jacket pocket rather than a trouser pocket. Accept that and you get an uncompromising glass vapour path, a battery that lasts a full trading day and both operating modes in one device. In retail it is the model for customers who have already owned a simple vaporizer and now want to know what the difference actually is.

The glass stem is the chamber

Arizer takes a different route from most manufacturers: instead of a fixed metal chamber you fill a glass stem, which then goes into the heater well. That brings two tangible advantages. From herb to lip the vapour touches nothing but glass — no metal, no plastic, no seal that gives off flavour. And to change the load you simply pull the stem out rather than scraping out a hot chamber. The standard stem holds around 0.3 grams, the XL stem also supplied roughly twice that, with extra air holes for a noticeably more open draw.

Hybrid heating: eighty per cent convection

The ceramic heater primarily warms the air flowing through, not the chamber wall. The herb is drawn through by hot air as in a chimney rather than baking onto a hot surface. The remaining conduction share of around twenty per cent keeps the load at temperature even between draws — which is exactly why the Solo III extracts evenly in session mode instead of tailing off after the third draw. In practice that means full flavour on the first draws, dense vapour later on, and evenly browned rather than patchy herb at the end.

Session mode and on-demand mode

In session mode the device holds the set temperature for a selectable duration of one to twenty minutes. That is the classic mode for a load worked through in one sitting. On-demand mode instead heats only while you are actually drawing and switches the heater off afterwards. That not only spares the battery — delivering over a hundred draws per charge instead of three hours of continuous running — it also keeps the load fresh when only single draws are taken across the day. Switching happens on the device, with no menu hunting.

Temperature, colour display and presets

The temperature range runs from 50 °C to 220 °C and can be adjusted in one-degree or ten-degree steps — coarse jumps for finding a setting, fine ones for trimming it. The colour OLED shows target and actual temperature at the same time, along with session status and battery level. Handy in daily use: the display rotates automatically when the device is held upside down. Five temperature presets can be filled with your own values, so regular customers do not have to hunt for their preferred setting each time.

Battery, USB-C and Power Delivery

The fixed 3400 mAh battery is good for around ten to fourteen sessions or three hours of continuous use — enough for a full day without charging in between. Charging runs over USB-C with Power Delivery support, so considerably faster than a plain USB port. A 5 volt, 3 amp power supply is included. Because pass-through is supported, the Solo III can be used on the cable as well; for a demo unit on the shop counter that is the decisive point.

Cleaning and maintenance

The effort is low because the vapour path is glass. Tap the stem out after a load and, when needed, soak it in isopropyl alcohol; sweep the heater well with the supplied brush. If a stem gums up badly it can be soaked completely, with no electronics anywhere near. The stainless steel screens in the stem are wear parts and four are supplied. Clean regularly and draw resistance and flavour stay constant for years.

Water filter and accessories in the box

Alongside the two aroma stems come two frosted stems that serve as water pipe adapters with a 14 mm fitting — standard bubblers therefore fit without buying anything. Add to that two travel tubes for prepared loads, four silicone caps, four stainless steel screens and a stir tool. For retail that means an unusually complete starter kit: the customer needs to buy nothing extra on the day of sale.

What is new compared with the Solo II MAX?

The Solo II MAX remains the endurance device with two swappable cells and 90 to 180 minutes of runtime. The Solo III instead brings on-demand mode, the colour display with rotating readout, a much shorter heat-up of around fifteen rather than forty seconds, and Power Delivery charging. Anyone needing swappable cells stays with the MAX; anyone wanting quick single draws takes the III.

How to use it

1. Fill the glass stem loosely with ground herbs, never pack it.
2. Place the stem in the heater well and switch the device on.
3. Select the temperature and decide between session and on-demand mode.
4. Let it heat for around fifteen seconds, then draw slowly and evenly.
5. Remove the stem, tap it out and clean the heater well with the brush.
