XMax Oont Pro

The OONT Pro is the smallest vaporiser from XMax with an adjustable chamber. Its glass mouthpiece slides in and thereby becomes the chamber lid: the deeper it sits, the less material is vaporised. Anyone wanting a small load therefore does not have to heat half an empty chamber. Together with the pocket format and one-button operation that makes a device for the discreet session in between. For retailers it is also an article that takes little shelf space and sells on impulse.

Who is the OONT Pro for?

For customers who take the vaporiser with them and do not want to be noticed doing it. The OONT Pro is so small it disappears in a closed hand and so simple to use that no training is needed. In retail it is the device for the customer who already has a large vaporiser at home and is looking for a second one for the road — a secondary device that sells alongside the first, not instead of it. As a second device it sells best where the customer already knows what they want, so the advice stays short.

The retractable glass mouthpiece

The glass mouthpiece slides into the housing and at the same time serves as the lid of the chamber. It is pulled out for filling and pushed back in for vaporising. The airpath runs entirely in the glass and is insulated against the heater, so the vapour cools on its way up. Because nothing protrudes when the mouthpiece is pushed in, the device has no projecting parts that can break off in a pocket. And because the glass is retracted, the vapour stays in the device longer and arrives cooler.

Adjustable chamber size

How deep the mouthpiece is pushed in determines how much space is left in the chamber. Anyone wanting a full load pulls it far out; anyone needing only two draws pushes it deep in and vaporises correspondingly less. The OONT Pro thereby solves a problem almost all small devices have: a half-filled chamber scorches at the edge because the heat does not find the material. Here the load always sits tight. The same amount of material can thus be spread over two or three sessions instead of vaporised at once.

Five temperature levels

Instead of degree-precise control the OONT Pro offers five fixed levels between 180 and 220 degrees, shown by LEDs. That covers the range in which vaporising actually happens and makes operation unambiguous: there are five options, not a hundred and twenty. For a device used in passing that is the right decision — anyone wanting finer control needs a bigger device anyway. The LEDs are readable in sunlight too, which is no small matter on a device meant for outdoors.

Twenty seconds

From switch-on to target temperature takes around twenty seconds, reported by vibration. For a device this size that is a good figure and the reason it suits the short session in between: anyone who has to wait a minute does not take the device along. Twenty seconds is the time you need anyway to stand somewhere and close the chamber. Between two appointments the device is back in the pocket in under a minute.

One button, LED and vibration

Operation runs over a single button. Pressing several times switches on and off, a long press changes the temperature level, the LEDs show which one is active. There is no display, and that is intentional — it would cost space and battery life. Vibration feedback replaces it where it counts: on reaching temperature and at the end of the session. A long press on the button also switches off immediately, should it need to be quick.

Herbs and concentrates

From the factory the OONT Pro is a herbal vaporiser. With the wax cup available as an accessory the same oven takes concentrates too. The 14 mm and 18 mm glass adapters extend the device with a connection to a water pipe — an unusual addition for a device this size, but one that goes down well with customers who have a water filter at home and carries the add-on sale. The adapters fit standard joints and turn the pocket device into a full water-pipe vaporiser.

Quick cleaning

The chamber is lined with glass, to which residue adheres less well than to metal. One pull on the mouthpiece brings the spent load up, the rest is brushed out. Because the device is small, chamber and airpath are clear in a minute. The screens at the bottom of the chamber are available as a set and should be replaced after a few weeks so the draw stays easy. We recommend offering screens and dosing capsules together with the device — both are asked for anyway.

Battery and USB-C

The battery is built in and lasts for up to ten sessions — with the small chamber and short sessions that corresponds to several days in normal use. Charging is over USB-C, so with the same cable as the phone. A replaceable battery cannot be fitted at this size; that is the compromise the pocket format demands. At ten short sessions per charge the battery lasts longer in everyday use than that of a phone.

OONT Pro or V3 Nano?

Both are small, both have one button, both charge over USB-C. The V3 Nano is slimmer still but has no temperature selection and no adjustable chamber. The OONT Pro offers five levels, the adjustable fill space, the retractable glass mouthpiece and the glass adapters for the water pipe. Anyone wanting only the simplest solution takes the Nano; anyone who also wants to dose while out takes the OONT Pro. The prices are close together; the decision comes down to whether dosing matters.

How to use it

1. Pull out the glass mouthpiece and pack the chamber loosely with finely ground material.
2. Push the mouthpiece in as deep as the desired load size requires.
3. Switch the device on and choose the temperature level with a long press.
4. Let it heat for around twenty seconds until the device vibrates, then draw slowly.
5. After the session pull on the mouthpiece and brush out the chamber.
