The M7 XL is the M7 with an extended mouthpiece and its own condenser — technically the same device, in practice a different experience. The longer vapour path gives the vapour time to cool before it reaches the lip, and thereby removes the format's only real weakness. Anyone who knows the M7 and has complained about the hot draw gets the answer here, without having to switch to a battery or electronics. In the shop it is worth laying both models side by side — the difference looks like nothing but length.

Who is the M7 XL for?

For everyone who finds the M7 draws too hot — and that is by far the most common feedback on the small model. A vaporiser with only a few centimetres between heating chamber and lip simply delivers warm vapour; the XL lengthens that path and solves the problem at the root, without adding technology. In retail it is the device for the customer who has already had a DynaVap and wants to know on the second purchase what can be done better. Anyone who has smoked the XL once rarely goes back to the short model, and in the sale that is the strongest argument there is.

The condenser and what it actually does

Inside the extended mouthpiece sits a condenser that slides into six positions. The further forward it goes, the narrower the airpath becomes: the draw gets tighter, the vapour denser and warmer. Further back the path opens, the draw becomes light and the vapour cooler. That is not a gimmick but the only control the device possesses at all — and it changes the character more markedly than the description suggests. We recommend showing the middle position in the sale and letting customers try out the rest.

The click as a temperature indicator

Inside the cap sits a bi-metal that deforms on reaching vaporisation temperature and audibly clicks. You heat, hear the click, take the flame away and draw. As it cools it clicks a second time — the signal to reheat. There is no sensor to fail and no calibration to drift. The cap is a wear part and should be replaced after one or two years, because the bi-metal grows more sluggish over time. Spare caps cost single figures and therefore belong on the shelf.

Heating with flame or induction

A jet-flame lighter is recommended: pass it evenly over the whole cap while rotating the device, do not hold it in one spot. An ordinary lighter works too but leaves soot. Anyone vaporising daily reaches for an induction heater — put the device in, after five to eight seconds it clicks, without flame and without soot. For retailers the induction heater is the most important add-on sale with the XL, because it makes the device fit for everyday use. Without one the XL stays a device for home; with one it becomes an everyday device.

Chamber, Adjust-a-Bowl and economy

The chamber holds around a tenth of a gram. Using the Adjust-a-Bowl function the tip can be turned inside the midsection and the chamber shrunk by half — the most important adjustment on the device for microdosing. Because only as much is heated as is actually needed, the same amount of material lasts considerably longer than on devices with a fixed chamber. Finely ground material is not a recommendation at this chamber size but a requirement; a small grinder is part of the system, not an accessory.

The Stealth version

Alongside the standard version in medical-grade stainless steel, the XL comes as a Stealth: entirely of titanium, coated with the DuraDyn Stealth surface. Titanium takes up heat faster and gives it off faster, so the heat cycle is shorter. The coating is scratch-resistant and evenly dark — a device that still looks new after a year in a trouser pocket. For retailers those are two articles with identical internals and two very different groups of buyers, priced close enough that material and looks decide.

Modular build

Cap, tip, midsection, condenser and mouthpiece are individual parts and combine freely, across model boundaries too. Want to shorten the XL? Screw on the M7 mouthpiece. Want a glass midsection? Take one. For retailers the system means every single part is its own article and customers buy replacements for years instead of buying a new device. With this brand the business lies in the accessories, not in the device itself.

Connecting to a water pipe

The mouthpiece is tapered and fits 10 mm joints without an adapter. On the XL the effect is smaller than on the short M7, because the vapour already arrives cooled — but combining both gives the coolest draw a DynaVap can deliver at all. Adapters for 14 mm joints are in the range, cost a few euros and therefore belong in every order with an XL. Anyone running the XL on a water pipe should push the condenser all the way back.

Cleaning and wear parts

The device dismantles completely and can be soaked in isopropyl alcohol; metal and glass take that without restriction. Because the airpath is longer on the XL, more condensate collects there than on the short model — but it sits in the condenser rather than in your mouth. Wiping it out every two weeks is enough. The wear parts are the O-rings and the cap; both cost little and should be on the shelf, since a set of O-rings costs almost nothing to buy in.

M7 XL, M7 or VonG X?

The M7 is the smallest and cheapest device in the line but draws warmest. The XL is the same vaporiser with a longer path and an adjustable condenser — the most sensible choice for daily use. The VonG X is the step above: titanium and stainless steel combined, a larger tip, a rotating mouthpiece for airflow control and a 14 mm connection as standard. Anyone who wants both buys the XL and fits a larger tip later.

How to use it

  1. Remove the cap and pack the chamber loosely with finely ground material.
  2. Put the cap on and twist it slightly — the slicer breaks up the material.
  3. Slide the condenser to the position you want, further back for a cooler draw.
  4. Heat the cap evenly, take the flame away at the click and draw slowly.
  5. After the second click reheat, or empty the chamber while it is still warm.
