Who is the UniDyn for?

For customers who have already owned several DynaVaps and want to push the flavour further still. Convection delivers a different aroma from the direct heating of the other models: softer, finer, less dense. Anyone used to electric convection devices switching to a VapCap finds the smallest break here. In retail the UniDyn is not an entry device but the device for the connoisseur who hears the difference when you describe it. Anyone wanting to hear it should try a UniDyn and an M7 back to back in the shop.

The BallR Cap and how it works

Inside the cap lie stainless steel balls. On heating they take up the warmth and store it; on drawing, the air passes them, is heated by them and only then carries the heat into the material. That is exactly convection — the heating element does not touch the load. The vapour becomes noticeably milder and more aromatic, but less dense than on the directly heated models. Anyone looking for the cloud is far better served by the directly heated models.

The UniBody from a single piece

Tip and stem are not screwed together but machined from a single piece of titanium. That removes the joint where residue sits on other devices and where O-rings wear. The device therefore has fewer parts, less cleaning effort and no place that could work loose. The price for that: you cannot swap the tip for another, as is possible on the modular models.

HypoTherm — why the stem stays cool

The patented HypoTherm heat break ensures the heat of the cap does not migrate into the stem. On a one-piece device that is the real design task, because there is no parting line at which the heat would break off anyway. In practice that means you can hold the UniDyn after heating without waiting. On the short metal models that is exactly the most frequent criticism of all.

XL length and the longer cap

The UniDyn is built longer than the classic models, and the BallR Cap is longer too. Together those lengthen the path the vapour travels to the lip and thereby lower its temperature. Combined with the convection that gives the coolest draw a DynaVap can deliver without a water filter — and it is why this model is more popular with heavy users than its chamber size suggests.

Seven airflow settings

The condenser slides into seven positions and thereby determines how narrow the airpath is. Further forward the draw becomes tighter and the vapour denser, further back lighter and cooler. Seven detents are more than on any other model of the brand; anyone who likes adjusting finds the widest scope here. In a sales conversation it is enough to show two opposite positions and let the customer try the rest.

Adjust-a-Bowl and chamber size

The bowl holds around a tenth of a gram and can be shrunk with the Adjust-a-Bowl function. On a convection device that has a stronger effect than usual: because the air finds its own way through the material, a densely packed small load is considerably more efficient than a loosely spread large one. Anyone wanting to run the UniDyn economically shrinks the chamber and grinds finely — with a convection device that is not a recommendation but a requirement.

Heating with flame or induction

The BallR Cap needs a little more heat than a standard cap because of the balls. With a jet-flame lighter you heat evenly over the whole cap while rotating the device; in the induction heater it takes a few seconds longer than on the small models. In return the stored heat then lasts longer, so more draws come out of one heat cycle.

Cleaning

The balls in the cap should be taken out regularly and put into isopropyl alcohol — they are the place where residue collects. The UniBody itself is straightforward, because there is no parting line in which anything can settle. All metal parts take the bath without care. Anyone neglecting the balls loses exactly the advantage they bought the device for.

UniDyn, HyperDyn or VonG X?

The UniDyn is the convection vaporiser: smoothest vapour, coolest draw, seven airflow settings, seamless UniBody, but a small chamber and no swappable tip. The HyperDyn is the session device with a 0.25 g chamber and thick Hyper Cap. The VonG X is the balanced all-rounder with a 0.1 g tip and rotating mouthpiece. Anyone after flavour takes the UniDyn; anyone needing volume takes the HyperDyn.

How to use it

  1. Remove the BallR Cap and pack the bowl loosely with finely ground material.
  2. If needed, turn the tip to shrink the chamber for a smaller load.
  3. Slide the condenser to one of the seven positions, further back for a cooler draw.
  4. Heat the cap evenly, take the heat source away at the click and draw slowly.
  5. After the second click reheat; the balls give off their heat over several draws.
